In Language Arts, we had to read these books called Wisdom Tales. They are little stories from areas around the world. Once we read a lot of them, we had to make a project on one of the stories. Mae and I chose to make a Stopmotion of The Smuggler. The Smuggler is a story of this man who goes to the market every day with a different donkey carrying straw every day and this guard would check him every time but he couldn’t find any smuggled items. Until one day after their man retired, he saw the same person with a new donkey in the market.
He asked him, “Hey, I remember you, what were you smuggling?”
And the smuggler said, “Donkeys.”
Stopmotion is where you take lots of photos to turn into a movie. So we took some dolls that Mrs. Donnelly brought, and a Lego horse, because we couldn’t find a donkey and made a stop motion. There was this one doll that didn’t like to stand up so we got a string tied it to him and made him walk out of the market.
Last Saturday, I went to the first meeting of a new 4 H club. 4 H stands for head, heart, hands and heath. 4H is a youth development program that has a focus on agriculture. 4H doesn’t specify in general but the club I went to was all about horses. The 4H club was held at a farm where they breed horses. In the spring we’re all going to be matched up with a baby horse and teach the horse everything that they need to know. In the first session, we learned about safety and the best ways to treat younger horses. The man who taught us had many years in training horses and really liked to talk. He taught us how to use a rope halter since that’s the only halter they like to use. At the farm they had about 75 horses, 11 foals and 3 on the way. There are four dogs that I have yet to find the names of but they’re all adorable.
